We are a small team committed to raising awareness of men’s cancers and how to reduce the risks of developing a life-threatening problem from them.

After recovering from successful prostate cancer treatment in 2007 North West businessman Bernard Edmunds started a charity, which he initially called Manchester Million, to support the work of Professor Noel Clarke and his Urology team in their clinics at The Christie in Manchester and in their scientific laboratories in the adjacent Paterson Institute.

That initiative raised £150,000 in the first two years and led to the planned recruitment of the fund’s first dedicated researcher in 2010.

Our Chairman Bernard Edmunds (right) raised the first £100,000.

In 2009 the Appeal moved under the charity umbrella of The Christie and, to ensure transparency about the target of the appeal, changed it’s name to MEN MATTER.

Currently we are seeking to raise £1million for research and to help drive up awareness of male cancers.
